Lots were snapped within 30 minutes after being released for a new residential community in Melbourne’s south-east, being delivered by Lendlease.
Lendlease’s Averley community, located 65 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, will be home to 1,500 homes and more than 4,000 residents following completion.
Earlier this year the Victorian Government approved the Pakenham East Precinct Structure Plan, to support the rising demand for urban development. This plan also opened the door for the Averley community’s first land release.
Over 500 customers had qualified for the first released, resulting in the second release of the lots for the 113-hectare community being fast-tracked.
Approximately 22 per cent of the broader Pakenham East area in which Averley sits will be dedicated to open space, including fourteen parks and two sports reserves. Three government schools, one non-government school, integrated community centres including kindergartens and maternal and child health, one local town centre and a local convenience centre are also planned.
The area is set to be serviced by a newly created Pakenham East station, with a two-kilometre extension of the metropolitan rail line. In order to cater for the growing Pakenham community, the station will be built between Deep Creek and the Princes Freeway.
Matthew Mears, Managing Director, Communities at Lendlease said the community will satisfy the undersupply of housing in the Cardinia corridor.
“We warmly welcome and congratulate our first purchasers. Our vision for Averley is to meet the needs and aspirations of homebuyers and to create a sense of belonging and connection for our newest community in the surrounds of the local, natural environment,” he said.
The creation of Pakenham East will see the gradual development of more than 7,200 homes and generate around 1,400 jobs.
This follows the completion and development of other projects around Melbourne by Lendlease, including Melbourne Park, Victoria Harbour and Melbourne Quarter.
Lendlease is also leading a consortium, in partnership with the University of Melbourne to develop Melbourne Connect. The project will provide commercial accomodation for university students, commercial accomodation as well as Science Gallery Melbourne.
