From small bridge projects to major infrastructure, BMD Group are celebrating 10 years of delivering projects across Western Australia.
BMD began its journey in the west on the Busselton Airport apron extension before moving onto minor bridge works.
Following these works, BMD became involved in the delivery of major projects including freeway upgrades like the Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways, and Perth’s first Smart Freeway and critical transport replacements in the New Fitzroy River Bridge.
BMD Group will soon complete the METRONET Victoria-Canning Crossing Removal Project as part of the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance. The removal is Perth’s first major elevated rail project, designed to improve public transport safety, reduce traffic congestion and more.
Six level crossings are being removed along the Armadale Line by raising the rail over the road at Mint/Archer Street, Oats Street, Welshpool Road, Hamilton Street, Wharf Street and William Street. While new elevated stations will be built at Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park and Cannington stations. The project is due for completion mid-2025.
As part of the Tonkin Extension Alliance, BMD is also set to begin work on the Perth’s $1 billion Tonkin Highway Extension project. The project will deliver a 14-kilometre extension of Tonkin Highway as well as major upgrades to Thomas Road.

The extension of Tonkin Highway will include a four-lane dual carriageway from Thomas Road all the way to South Western Highway, including a number of grade-separated interchanges, underpasses and roundabouts.
The project will also cater for the recreational needs of the area with several equine underpasses, and a new principal shared path along the entire 14-kilometre extension.
Construction of the project is scheduled to commence in mid-2025 with completion anticipated by late-2028.
Over the past 10 years, BMD has won 55 projects, including 21 regional and remote; 18 bridges; five airport upgrades; and two water and wastewater projects.
Scott Power, Chief Executive Officer of BMD said the 10th anniversary year provided the chance to reflect on all that had been achieved, while looking ahead to new opportunities.
“Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication and resilience of our teams and the genuine relationships we build with clients, partners, and communities across Western Australia,” he said.
“The foundation of our success has been built on trust, collaboration, and mutually beneficial relationships. These values have driven our growth, and they will continue to propel us forward.”
