Detailed design works have been completed on a road bridge across the railway line at Clarence, which aims to widen and realign Chifley Road to connect to the new bridge.

The Clarence Road rail bridge will replace the existing bridge that had been built in 1943 and will aim to improve safety through wider travel lanes, road shoulders and an upgrade to safety barriers.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the work will provide long term safety benefits for road users, improve regional access and ensure more reliable travel times.

“The project includes widening and realigning the approaches to the new bridge as well as improvements to the Clarence Colliery Road intersection with Chifley Road,” Mr Toole said.

Work is expected to be completed by 2020.
