The second stage of the Main South Road Duplication Project has officially opened to traffic in Adelaide, South Australia.
The delivery of these road works by Fleurieu Connections Alliance marks a major milestone for the region, doubling the capacity of Main Road South between the Aldinga and Sellicks Beach suburbs.
Construction specifically included building the new Aldinga underpass, upgrading intersections along the road, and creating a dedicated shared path linking Aldinga to Sellicks Beach for pedestrians and cyclists.
These features aim to improve safety, reduce congestion, and provide better connections between the suburbs.

Andrew Coonan, General Manager of Fleurieu Connections, reflected on the significance of the achievement.
“Completing Stage Two and opening the road in its final configuration is a proud moment for the entire team,” he said.
“This upgrade is delivering safer travel and better connections for the Fleurieu Peninsula.
“It’s been a true collaboration with local communities and businesses, and we’re excited to see the lasting legacy for years to come.”
The project’s social and economic impact has been substantial, with over 99 per cent of its workforce being local, and more than two million work hours being delivered by South Australians.
Over 400 jobs are being supported, building skills and capability across the state.
Additionally, 95 per cent of project contracts have been awarded to South Australian businesses, strengthening the regional economy.
A green corridor with native tree planting and landscaping has also been established to enhance the environment along the construction.
While major works are now complete, finishing works such as landscaping and minor detailing will continue over the coming months.
