Senior Inland Rail executive departs

Inland Rail Acting Chief Executive Rebecca Pickering has stood down from her role following a two-year tenure in the position.

A Chemical Engineer by background, Pickering joined Inland Rail in 2018 and played a key role in the development of the project, previously as Director of Planning, Communications and Stakeholder Relations. She was appointed the role of Acting Chief Executive in July 2021.

She led the company through the Federal Government’s independent review into Inland Rail, helping to implement the recommendations of the review, including the creation of the new Inland Rail subsidiary.

Inland Rail is currently undertaking a recruitment process for a new Chief Executive and interim arrangements have been put in place until the position is filled.
