The Victorian Government has allocated $1.9 million to deliver safety upgrades on some of Shepparton’s busiest local roads and streets.
Delivered under the Victorian Government’s $210 million Safer Local Roads and Streets Program, the upgrades will target streets in Shepparton North, which are home to local schools and cater to higher-than-average pedestrian traffic.
The works will be delivered in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Greater Shepparton City Council.
These will include the installation of two compact roundabouts on Rea Street in Shepparton, at the intersections of Rea Street and Maude Street, and Rea Street and Clive Street.
New speed humps will also be installed on Maude, Orr, Rea, Clive and Dunrobin streets to encourage safer speeds.
Four new raised pedestrian crossings will be installed on Orr, Harold, Rea and Marungi streets, with traffic calming measures to be installed on Bourchier Street and Barker Avenue.

At both the Bourchier Street and Barker Avenue school crossings, bus-friendly asphalt speed cushions will be installed on the approaches.
Greater Shepparton City Council will deliver these upgrades and will keep the community informed regarding delivery timelines and any disruptions to traffic.
The council is one of 79 to receive funding from the Safer Local Roads and Streets Program to identify, plan and deliver safety upgrades on the highest-risk local roads before June 2027.
Shane Sali, Mayor of Greater Shepparton City Council, said the council has been working alongside the Victorian Government and TAC to deliver safer roads for the community.
“This funding will support vital upgrades on some of Shepparton’s busiest local streets which are home to several large schools – it is a significant investment in the safety and wellbeing of our residents,” said Sali.
