Shortlist released for Melbourne’s Thompsons Road upgrade

A $16.7 million bridge is now open, linking WA’s Treendale and Eaton, reducing travel time and increasing safety.

Four firms have been shortlisted to submit tenders for the $175 million second stage of works on the project in the city’s south-east.Four firms have been shortlisted to submit tenders for the $175 million second stage of works for the Thompsons Road Upgrade in Melbourne’s south-east.

The Victorian Government has named BMD, CPB, Cut and Fill and Winslow as the companies shortlisted for the project. The contract is due to be awarded by mid-year and construction to begin before Christmas.

The second stage of works includes duplicating the remaining sections of road from Frankston-Dandenong Road to Marriot Boulevard and from Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to Berwick-Cranbourne Road.

The project involves traffic light installation at Western Port Highway and over 10 kilometres of new path for cyclists and pedestrians.

Stage one of the upgrade is underway with works to remove the level crossing near the Merinda Park Railway Station beginning in December last year.

The first set of works is expected to be completed by late 2018, with the entire project finished by mid-2019.
