The shortlist has been revealed for four packages of works on Sydney Metro West, following the release of the independent Sydney Metro review.
The Sydney Metro West will double the rail capacity between Greater Parramatta and the Sydney CB, making it easier and faster to travel round Western Sydney.
The Stations Package West contract includes the design and construction of five new metro stations at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, and the Bays.
Shortlisted contractors include CPB Contractors Pty Limited & Lendlease Construction Pty Limited; and MetroVista comprising Gamuda Berhad trading as Gamuda (Australia) branch with Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd and BESIX Watpac (NSW) Pty Ltd engaged as Delivery Partners.
The Linewide Package includes the design, construction and commissioning of 24 kilometres of linewide rail infrastructure, as well as tunnel ventilation, power, lighting, drainage and fire systems infrastructure. In addition, the Linewide contractor will be responsible for the design and construction of a new stabling and maintenance facility and operations control centre at Clyde.
Shortlisted bidders proceeding to the Request for Tender stage of this contract are CPB Contractors Pty Limited & UGL Engineering Pty Ltd, and John Holland Pty Ltd.

The Trains and Systems package includes the procurement of 16 metro trains and associated rail systems, signalling systems, control systems, and platform screen doors.
Shortlisted bidders include Alstom Transport Australia Pty Ltd; CRRC (Hong Kong) Co Ltd & MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty Ltd; Hyundai Rotem Company & UGL Engineering Pty Ltd
Siemens Mobility Pty Ltd; and Siemens Mobility GmbH, Siemens Mobility Austria GmbH and Siemens Limited.
The Operations and Maintenance package includes the procurement of a customer- focused operator who will be responsible for operations, asset management and maintenance for 15 years.
Shortlisted bidders proceeding to the Request for Tender stage of this contract are: GroWest Metro consortium comprising RATP Développement S.A. & John Holland Pty Ltd, Keolis Downer Pty Ltd, MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty Ltd and River City Metro a consortium comprising ComfortDelGro Transit Pte. Ltd. & UGL Rail Services Pty Limited.
Expressions of interest will also begin from mid-next year to procure the ‘Integrated Station Developments’ across Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park and Pyrmont. This process has already kicked off for the Hunter Street Precinct Development.
