SMEC’s parent company, Surbana Jurong Private Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the City of Townsville with the aim of developing the city into a vibrant, smart and connected hub.
Under the MOC, Surbana Jurong will collaborate with the City of Townsville on economic, community and social innovation focused initiatives, including providing consultancy on the digitisation of the city and growing aviation links to Singapore.
“These initiatives will see our city become a hive of innovation, allowing us to attract new businesses with new jobs in growth areas. We’re looking forward to cooperating with Surbana Jurong on making it happen,” says Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill.
SMEC’s Graeme Pollock, Area Manager Northern, said that, as a local business, SMEC is committed to seeing Townsville prosper and local businesses and workers benefit.
“As part of the Surbana Jurong Group, SMEC’s traditional design has been strengthened with complementary capabilities, including planning and development expertise. We see this MOC opening doors to bringing more opportunities to Townsville.”
