After being open for just over a week, the Sydney Metro City Line has already provided a total of 1.4 million metro trips on the new M1 Northwest & Bankstown Line since the city section opened from Chatswood to Sydenham.
Since opening on August 19, 210,000 metro trips have been taken per weekday on average, with 98.8 per cent of services running on time. This includes a weekday morning peak average of 62,000 metro trips and a weekday evening peak average of 74,000 metro trips.
On opening weekend, many were out and about with more than 300,000 metro trips recorded on the M1 Northwest & Bankstown Line, which now extends 51.5-kilometre through Sydney with stops at 21 stations between Tallawong to Sydenham.

A total of 445 new metro services will run through the heart of the city each weekday, with room to move around 34,000 people every hour during peak periods, significantly alleviating pressure on existing transport options and road networks.
Works are still continuing on surrounding infrastructure, with new buildings above Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Gadigal and Waterloo stations under construction and set to progressively open as they are finished.
New city services run every four minutes in the peak, seven minutes during the interpeak and every 10 minutes during off peak and on the weekend. Commuters can plan their metro trip here.
