The Australian Government is calling for tenders for the second stage of the Sydney Metro Project, which involves building the twin metro railway tunnels under Sydney Harbour and through the CBD.
The Sydney Metro City & Southwest will extend from the city’s north west, beneath Sydney Harbour, through new underground CBD stations, and beyond to Bankstown.
The tunnelling contract is expected to be awarded mid-2017.
The first of five tunnel boring machines will be in the ground before the end of 2018 to deliver new twin railway tunnels from Chatswood to Sydenham.
Sydney Metro & Southwest is expected to open by 2024.
