Work is progressing on the Level Crossing Removal Project in Melton as crews prepare for a two-week construction blitz.
The works are a part of a large project to remove four level crossings in the Melton area and build a new Melton Station.
The two-week blitz will begin on Saturday 24 May to Saturday 7 June as crews complete excavation, surface preparation, track works and line marking in the rail corridor.
Works are currently underway to build new rail bridges over Coburns Road and Exford roads, Melton, and construct road bridges over the rail line at Ferris Road, Melton and Hopkins Road, Truganina.
A new roundabout will be built at the intersection of Hazel Street and Brooklyn Road and the entrance to the Melton Station Square Shopping Centre will be rebuilt to allow for future bus services in the area.

At Hopkins Road, Truganina, crews will undertake structural works in the rail corridor and non-destructive digging to locate underground services, while major construction will also ramp up at Ferris Road in Melton, with piling works in the rail corridor.
The new Melton Station will include four platforms and will be used to accommodate trains starting and terminating at Melton, as well as Ballarat services.
The Victorian Government is removing 110 level crossings under the Level Crossing Removal Project across Melbourne by 2030, one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in the State’s history.
The project has made Victorian roads safer by preventing 111 crashes and near misses every year and has slashed travel times in the morning by saving 55 hours of boom gate down time.
