Instarmac’s pothole repair solution – UltraCrete Instant Road Repair – is being used on Iceland’s roads for a number of emergency repairs throughout Reykjavik.
Iceland, known fondly as the “Land of Fire and Ice”, is a country of extremes, with glaciers and volcanic springs located next to one another. During the winter months, temperatures can reach as low as minus 30°C which leaves the road network vulnerable to potholes and damage caused by the freeze/thaw effect.
Iceland’s Department of National Roads was looking for a repair material that could be used in all weathers and provides emergency repairs to a network of highly trafficked roads.
Instarmac’s Icelandic partner, Arnardalur sf. supplied the department with UltraCrete Instant Road Repair cold lay asphalt for the job.
UltraCrete Instant Road Repair is a first time permanent pothole repair, which has been continuously developed over the past 35 years and used all around the world.
It’s different to other cold lay asphalt repair products in that strength is gained by compaction. It becomes stronger with the more traffic that travels over it, making it perfect for the roads in Reykjavik where daily traffic can reach up to 60,000 cars per day.
UltraCrete is applied in three steps – clean, pour, compact – and the potholes repaired can be trafficked instantly.
