In conjunction with the Federal Government’s $75 billion allocation of funds into Australian infrastructure over 10 years, the Victorian State Government also recently announced a $9.6 billion investment, in the Victorian Budget 2017/18, into state infrastructure over a four year period. This will help ease the various pressures of rapid population growth and increase the state’s economic outlook.
The investment will help fund major projects regarding improved road development, renewable energy, health-facility upgrades, employment and urban renewal plans among others.
This will also include a public transport overhaul, additional to the annual $879.5 million that goes towards creating a more reliable system in metropolitan areas will be the $10.9 billion Metro Tunnel Project and $1.1 billion towards improving public transport systems in regional communities.
At the 8th Annual Victorian Major Projects Conference 2017, attendees will have a platform to discuss the major projects that will enhance Victoria’s future and assist its growth.
Held over a two-day period, 28th and 29th November, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, industry professionals will not only be able to network with some of the industry’s leading practitioners in specialised sessions, but will also listen to comprehensive presentations regarding the largest projects taking place in the state.
Senior-level executives will present on topics such as the Metro Tunnel Project, Victoria’s Plan for Value Creation and Capture, the Melbourne Park Redevelopment and more.
The Hon. Jacinta Allan MP, will be returning to the event to give the Ministerial Address after her successful reception at previous conferences.
Additionally, Simon Wilson, Development Victoria’s General Manager Precincts, will outline the company’s ongoing projects. These include the revitalisation of central Dandenong, developments in the Docklands, Ballarat West Employment Zone, Melbourne Park and the redevelopment of Flinders Street Station.
Benjamin White, Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning’s Director of Renewable Energy Strategy, Insight & Investment, will present on the State Government’s $149 million funding to deliver additional and improved renewable energy sources.
Also presenting at the Conference will be David Clements, Transurban’s Program Director Major Projects Victoria. Clements will discuss the West Gate Tunnel Project and how it will boost the Victorian economy by $11 billion, as well as creating quicker and safer journeys for drivers.
