VIC Gov opens second round of regional infrastructure grants

Regional VictoriaLocal councils and eligible organisations in Victoria can now apply for grants under the second round of the Regional Infrastructure Fund.

The second round of funding will remain open until 30 July and enables applicants to seek up to $3 million for infrastructure projects that have the potential to stimulate economic and community activity, including those that seek to support recovery from COVID-19 and other major economic challenges, in regional Victoria.

The stimulus round aims to support local economies as the state recovers from the global pandemic, by creating more jobs and improving community infrastructure.

Projects supported as part of the Stimulus Round include the redevelopment of historic tourist railways at Bullarto in the Macedon Ranges and at Drysdale on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The Fund has also supported the development of an industrial estate in Bannockburn, a regional botanical garden for the small northern Victorian town of Girgarre and significant support for streetscape works at Wonthaggi.

The second round will build on this investment and enable even more projects to be supported, creating additional jobs for regional and rural Victorians.

The fund is part of the Victorian Government’s $156 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which aims to support businesses across the state.

The State Government’s funding is part of a circa $30 billion investment in rural and regional Victoria since 2015.
