Traffic Technologies’ economical technology will be deployed by VicRoads next year, as the company becomes the first in Victoria to secure approval for its LED road lights.

A state-of-the-art CMS will be used to remotely monitor and control the road lights and their energy metering, which is expected to generate savings in power and maintenance costs of up to 40 to 50 per cent.

There are roughly 2.28 million road lights in Australia with only 10 to 15 per cent that have been converted to LED technology thus far.

The announcement follows recent success for Traffic Technologies in securing lucrative contracts to supply LED road lights to power and road authorities in New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

“The award of these contracts confirms the company as a leading supplier of LED road lights and a state-of-the-art lighting control system to the Australian market,” said Traffic Technologies Managing Director Con Liosatos.

“It demonstrates the potential of the changeover to LED road lights in Australia to significantly reduce power and maintenance costs. This represents a significant opportunity for the company in the years ahead.”
