Victoria’s Big Build boss departs

Director General of Major Transport Infrastructure Authority Corey Hannett has announced that he will leave his role in leading Victoria’s Big Build.

Hannett first joined the role in 2014 following the Victorian election. Before that he was the CEO of the Regional Rail Link Authority from 2009 to 2014.

Hannett has led the Big Build as it grew from the removal of 50 level crossings to now 110 by 2030, the construction of the Metro Tunnel and a $100 billion pipeline of transport projects across Victoria, employing more than 50,000 workers.

Hannett will be replaced by Kevin Devlin, currently the CEO of Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project.

Devlin has previously worked alongside Hannett on Victoria’s Big Build and will start as Director General following Mr Hannett’s departure in late March, allowing time for the transition.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said Hannett had led a program of works that has transformed the state and created tens of thousands of jobs.

“Corey’s passion for the sustainability of the construction sector, and the safety of workers on the ground, have been hallmarks of his leadership and I thank him and wish him, and his family well for the future,” Andrews said.
