The planned work is part of an additional $55 million being invested by the South Australian Government into water main replacements until 2020.

These replacement works comprise the first of three sections of water main being replaced on the Anzac Highway this year, which totals more than 2200 metres.

“This upgrade will significantly reduce interruption to traffic from water main breaks on a key main road, and allow a continued reliable supply of water to local residents and businesses,” said Minister for Water and the River Murray Ian Hunter.

Construction for all three projects is scheduled mostly on the road verge, with two lanes remaining open during works.

“The location of this section of water main between the trees and the gutter, will allow work to be kept mostly off the road, resulting in minimal traffic disruption,” said Mr. Hunter.

“SA Water has been working closely with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) to coordinate these works, and will continue communicating with local residents about any potential temporary water supply outages.”
