Works are powering ahead on both the West Gate Tunnel and Metro Tunnel in Victoria, with both projects set to be open next year.
Trial operations have begun on the Metro Tunnel, providing station staff, operators, maintenance workers and drivers with the chance to test a range of scenarios for the first time.
Weekend disruptions will affect services along the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines until mid-December as a result.
Major construction has wrapped up on three of the five new underground stations (Arden, Parkville and Anzac stations), with works continuing on the remaining two CBD stations, Town Hall and State Library.

Concerning other projects across the state, an eight-day December blitz will take place to remove 10 level crossings, with works also ramping up on the removal of four level crossings in Melton, along with the new Melton Station.
Minister for Transport Infrastructure Danny Pearson said the upcoming slate of works would help to increase the efficiency of connections in and around the city.
“It’s going to be huge summer of works as crews prepare to open the West Gate Tunnel and Metro Tunnel next year – two vital projects for Victoria, that will reduce travel times and congestion and improve connections to every corner of Australia’s biggest city,” Pearson said.
