Two major intersection upgrades on Queensland’s Gladstone-Mt Larcom Road are underway following the announcement of the successful contractor and a $4.5 million funding boost.
“Transport and Main Roads has worked closely with Economic Development Queensland designing the two intersection upgrades to align with the long-term plans for the State Development Area north of Gladstone,” said Queensland Minister for Main Roads and Road Safety Mark Bailey in a statement.
Mr. Bailey said that the upgrades would improve safety at the Reid Road and Landing Road intersections on Gladstone-Mt Larcom Road, which is a major freight and commuter route.
BMD has been appointed the successful contractor for the upgrades.
Work at the Landing Road section involves realigning the intersection, building protected turn lanes and upgrading lighting.
The works at Reid Road will improve safety and access to and from Gladstone-Mt Larcom road for heavy vehicles.
The project is funded through the Queensland Government’s LNG Proponent Funding Program.
